Colorado Legislature to Discuss "High Driving" Bill

by KREX News Room
by Jordan Sherman

DENVER- The House Judiciary Committee is expecting a lengthy meeting regarding a bill to set a blood alcohol limit for marijuana impaired drivers.

The legislature has failed to pass a driving under the influence of marijuana law for the past two years because of drivers could argue they are sober regardless of their blood exceeding legal limits.

The debate is being considered even more important this year because of the recent vote to legalize recreational marijuana use.

MJ stays in the body for as long as 45 days, with no worry about legality people will smoke every day. That will build up over time and being high all the time will bring the consequences around very quickly. Just like those who drink all the time, they become rummy, dopers will do the same thing.

Why would you insult Current T.V. by comparing them to CNN? Oh, and who bought Current T.V?

Here is an idea, don't drink and drive and dont smoke and drive. It's a simple solution. As for a CNN report, that just about as valid as Current T.V.

They should watch that CNN video where they have a daily user, a weekend user and an occasional user smoke and drive. They had them smoke three times in the same afternoon testing their blood each time before they went back out on the course. Even when they were well over twice Washington's legal limit all three drove fine. After smoking more to get even more high a couple of times they all started showing signs of impairment, but were several time Washington's limit by then. Why would we want to prosecute people who aren't driving impaired? A per se limit isn't really necessary anyway. As an attorney I've seen all sorts of driving while intoxicated cases involving every kind intoxicating substance, legal and illegal. There is no per se limit for anything but alcohol, yet convictions are had every day on these other cases. Dashboard video and field sobriety tests and testimony are enough to show impairment. It's usually obvious. If not, we shouldn't be convicting them.
