WASHINGTON- Those who lost their lives during last week's shooting in Aurora were honored by lawmakers in Washington Tuesday.

The U.S. House was led in a moment of silence by Rep. Ed Perlmutter, whose congressional district includes Aurora.

Perlmutter was joined on the House floor by members of Colorado's congressional delegation, as he spoke in tribute of those killed and wounded in the massacre.

Perlmutter also talked about the bravery and heroism that took place that day. "Any one of us can tell you stories of how people, to complete strangers, were willing to give up their own lives to save the life of the stranger next to them," he said.

Also on Tuesday, a separate moment of silence was observed in the U.S. Senate.
