by Jordan Sherman

DENVER- Lawmakers in the Colorado Senate are discussing bill 111 which would hold certain people responsible for reporting suspected abuse of elderly people to law enforcement.

The measure states doctors, dentists, mental health professionals, hospital and long term care personnel, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, law enforcement, EMS, firefighters, clergy, bank, and community-centered board personnel among others.

Failure to report suspected abuse or neglect within 24 hours would results in a class 3 misdemeanor.
