Lawmakers Discuss Death Penalty Repeal

by KREX News Room
by Kristina Kuestner

DENVER (AP)- Repealing the death penalty is up for another day of debate at the Colorado Legislature.

A House committee planned to start work Wednesday on a proposal to ask voters whether the death penalty should be repealed. The bill is a rival to a separate death penalty bill that would repeal the punishment outright.

Lawmakers heard about nine hours of emotional testimony on the outright repeal Tuesday. But they delayed a vote. Some of those who testified argued the sentence is unfair and ineffective, while others called it a just punishment.

Another lengthy day of emotional testimony was expected to consider a ballot question to repeal the death penalty. Three men await execution in Colorado.

We have got to clean out our state government before it's to late. They all need to be fired starting with the governor all the way down. These leftwing loons are dangerous, and will totally destroy this state.

I'll never understand this aspect of the democratic mentality. Yes, forgiveness and redemption have been cultural prerogatives, but 'turning the other cheek' is for strictly for suckers. The only ground the meek will inherit is six feet of it above their heads. The further we move from 'eye for an eye,' the more the boundaries between right and wrong get blurred. The victim must be remembered.
