Knife Attacker Sentenced to 18 Years

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The man found guilty of a late night stabbing last summer in Grand Junction received his sentence Monday.

Clinton Chism, 35, was found guilty of second degree assault causing serious bodily injury and second degree assault causing injury with a deadly weapon.

He was originally facing attempted second degree murder, among other minor charges, however all other charges were dropped.

Chism was sentenced to 9 years for each of the two convictions he received, to be served consecutively in the Department of Corrections. He was given credit of 209 days for time already served.

Chism stabbed a friend of his estranged wife's, who was sitting in a vehicle in front of Chism's home on June 20, 2012. His wife, whom Chism was separated from at the time, was inside the home removing her belongings.
