GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- School District 51 students are out of school until Jan. 8 and one local organization is offering its services to keep parents' minds at ease.

'Kids Day Out' is an organization that takes up to 50 children at a time, and holds fun activities throughout the day for students to stay busy with.

Organizers say the goal for kids day out is to have students continue to utilize their brain, while enjoying the day off and staying out of trouble.

"I think it's very beneficial. Especially on a day that you have to work, as a parent, and the kids are out of school for conferences or a holiday like Christmas time. They'll have a positive alternative, versus staying home and possibly causing some mischief," said Tina Ross, organizer for kids day out.

The next kids day out will be held Friday, Dec. 28 at the Bookcliff Activity Center.

The following kids day out will be held Jan. 3 & 4, at Orchard Mesa Community Center.

The last kids day out will be held Jan. 7, at Chipeta Elementary School.

The program runs from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and cost $30 per day.
