GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-
Downtown Grand Junction is home to many different art pieces, but this week, will also house pianos for everyone to enjoy.
It’s the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra's first "Keys to the City.”
The organization is following larger cities, and has placed four different pianos across downtown Grand Junction to raise music awareness.
“We're trying to really just get it out to the masses,” said Jeremy Herigstad, of the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra. “Whether that turns into people coming to a concert, we don't know that but just the fact that we realize that music is an important part of our lives and if it’s accessible, if you're walking down the street and you see it and its there, why not play a few notes.”
Throughout the coming days, local artists will perform several different concerts on these pianos.
The first will start on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the yellow piano in front of Main Street Bagels.
