Junior College World Series Nominated as "Best Sports Event"

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Grand Junction's very own Junior College World Series has been nominated as one of the "Best Sports Event Series" by Sports Travel Magazine.

Criteria for nomination include superior organization, attendance, experience for the competitors and spectators and how the venue served to enhance the event.

JUCO is competing against four other sporting events for the top spot including the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.

"It's very humbling when you think about the 80 plus volunteers that are on the committee and countless, hundreds, or other volunteers that help from hosting to feeding people to transportation so it's pretty cool then to know that the facility that we built over the last 50 years is being recognized," said Jamie Hamilton, JUCO president and tournament chairman.

Voting ballots are available in July and August issues of Sports Travel Magazine or online at www.SportsTravelMagazine.com.

Voting is open now until August 15 and the winners will be announced at the TEAMS Conference & Expo on October 1 - 4.
