Judge Takes Himself Off Janusz Case

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The judge in the case against a former Grand Junction Police Officer accused of sexual assault on a child, has taken himself off the case.

Eric Janusz, 42, is accused of four counts of sexual assault on a child in a position of trust and four counts of sexual assault on a child in a position of trust with a pattern of abuse.

At a motions hearing Monday afternoon, Judge Thomas Deister said he has a connection to one of the witnesses and has recused himself from the case.

It's not yet known who will be taking the case over or when that decision will be made.
