CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP)- A judge has entered a plea on suspect James Holmes' behalf.

Judge William Sylvester entered a not guilty plea on his behalf, after Holmes' defense team said their client wasn't ready to enter one.

The judge says Holmes can later change his plea to not guilty by reason of insanity if he chooses.

A trial date was set for Aug. 5 and prosecutors plan to announce whether they'll seek the death penalty, at a hearing on April 1.

Holmes is charged with multiple counts of murder and attempted murder, in the July 20 attack that killed 12 people and injured 70.
