Judge Denies Request to Release Shooting Suspect's Records

AURORA, Colo.- A judge overseeing the case against the Aurora movie theater shooting suspect has ordered the University of Colorado Denver not to release his school records.

Authorities say former neuroscience graduate student James Holmes killed 12 people and injured 58 when he opened fire at a midnight showing of the new Batman movie last Friday.

Several media organizations had filed open records requests for Holmes' school records, but a district court judge ruled that releasing the information would impede the investigation.

Meanwhile, a funeral was held in Denver Thursday for a 23-year-old woman killed in the massacre.

Family members and friends remembered Micayla Medek as loving and independent-minded.

Gov. John Hickenlooper was among Thursday's mourners who wore pink ribbons in honor of the woman's fondness for the color.

Medek attended Aurora Community College and worked at a Subway sandwich shop.

Officials say five people who were wounded in Friday's shootings remain in critical condition.
