Convicted Murderer Sentenced to Prison for Botched Robbery

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Emotions ran high inside a Mesa County courtroom Thursday as a man heard his sentence for his involvement in a homicide this past November.

Joshua Ringold, 22, was found guilty Thursday of second-degree murder and robbery.

Family members of both Ringold and the murder victim, 16-year-old Cody English, testified and asked the judge not to give a full sentence.

Ringold himself read a statement apologizing for the situation, telling the judge, "I didn't intend to hurt anybody. Please believe in me."

The judge sentenced Ringold to a total of 42 years in prison. He is set to serve 32 years for the second-degree murder charge with five years of parole.

He will also serve a consecutive sentence of 10 years for the conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery charge.

Ringold will also have to serve a concurrent sentence of three years for his probation violation, with around 200 days already served in presentence confinement.

Ringold was arrested, along with other accomplices, in connection to the early morning murder of Cody English on November 25 after a botched home invasion robbery.
