Jefferson County Jurors Deliberate in 2003 Slaying

GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) - Jefferson County jurors in the trial of a man accused of hanging his estranged wife in 2003 will have to weigh key testimony from his twin.

Daniel DeWild is charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy in the death of Heather DeWild, who disappeared just before the couple's final divorce hearing. Her body was found about a month later near Golden.

Prosecutors say he and his twin, David, plotted the killing together.

David DeWild has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit second-degree murder and testified in court that his brother was the one who hung Heather DeWild.

But in closing arguments Friday, defense attorneys said David DeWild is lying and putting most of the blame on his brother to spare himself a life sentence.
