Fake Facebook Page Created Under Shooting Suspect's Name

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- In a bizarre twist to the Aurora shooting, someone has made a fake Facebook page under the names James Holmes and hundreds of people have "liked" it.

The page was created Friday by an unknown person or persons, although there seems to be one person who is responding to a lot of the criticism. This person responded, "It's a page for those who like James, give him a second chance."

The page is causing a lot of anger and protest from users who are writing things like, "What kind of sense of humor do you have to possess to get kicks out of other people's pain, especially with this kind of tragedy? The creator of this page is a truly sick individual."

Another says, "Although it may be offensive to others, it is not illegal. Don't like it? Don't look at it."

The page already has hundreds of followers and the count is growing rapidly. There's no indication from officials as to whether or not the page will be taken down.

Reports indicate the FBI is investigating. Meanwhile, dozens of other Facebook pages both in support of and against Holmes have popped up.

I think the page is repulsive and I do think the man who created the account not to HONOR James Holmes but actually pretending to be him, needs to be looked at closely due to some of his comments such as "I may have to make another theatre run".... This person has bragged about creating 12 accounts, mocked that he has outwitted the FBI and they will never catch him, and is spending an enormous amount of time dealing with this page. Although most of his posters are mindless little teenage twerps, the man himself seems eerily similar to the type of person who do such an act and needs to be watched...as do a few of his posters who have said that they wish to emulate his action at upcoming events. I hope that if anyone on his page does attempt anything that 1) they fail and 2) the creator of the page gets time in prison for egging people on because this page exists.

It's just a joke people. The person probably has 0 relation to James Holmes and hasn't heard of him other than the shooting. It's not actually to "give him a second chance" Learn to internet. Please. Thank you come again.

The stain that put up the page is almost as disturbed as the namesake. After Holmes has been given the needle and is under the ground, the page will probably die a natural death. In the meantime, though, we have to deal with a troll of the sickest variety. Falling into that trap is the last thing we should do. Report it as violent? Hell, yes! But we should temper our natural urge to go into "Hulk SMASH!" mode by keeping this in its proper perspective: Getting our knickers in a twist is exactly what the author wants; it's his/her sickness, not ours. Carry on. :)

I've seen the page that seems to get the most attention, and that's what this unfortunate person is seeking! Attention! What happened was a horrible tragety and I'm sure if anyone this fake knew and cared about got killed or injured the shoe would be on the other foot then, huh? Facebook needs to step up and remove all fake James Holmes profiles, but so far they have done nothing!

Has anyone thought to check out the facebook wall of Frank Sawyer? There are a lot if similarities between his wall and the fake James Holmes. Frank has done a lot of chatting and his comments are very similar to those being made by the fake James Holmes.
