JUCO Players Help out Special Fans

by KREX News Room

Grand Junction - One of the top teams at this year's JUCO makes a surprise visit to some special fans. Central Arizona, one of only two teams still undefeated in the tournament, stopped by one of Mesa Developmental Services work programs Wednesday afternoon.

The players saw first-hand that despite their disabilities, these are some of the die-hard JUCO fans who cheer them on every year.

"We're a community college and community is in there and we've got to give back. Do we do enough? Maybe not, but we are trying. Our guys get a ton out of it. It gives them an idea in the real world, not just baseball," said Jon Wente, a player with Central Arizona.

The Vaqueros got a tour of the workspace where these fans shred paper and build some unique furniture.

Central Arizona's host for the week is the Grand Junction Rotary Club, which helped set up Wednesday's visit.
