DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo.- Investigators in Douglas County are now examining a body from a decades old case.

Douglas County authorities dug up a girl's body Friday from a Castle Rock cemetery in an effort to determine her identity.

The body of the unidentified teenage girl was found in 1993 near the Rainbow Falls Campground in Douglas County, between Woodland Park and Deckers.

The coroner's office at the time concluded that the girl may have been hit in the head.

Officials also believe she may have been a runaway.

Investigators say if she is identified, they may be able to track down people who knew her, what happened when she disappeared and what led to her death.

A great question Diane! It was pointless to 'report' this item without more information for the reader.

What spurred the investigators to do this at this time? An advancement in the process of identifying people? A new database of missing persons? Do you have any explanation for the cause of their actions?
