In Vitro Bill Proposed to Help Veterans

by Associated Press
by Danielle Kreutter

WASHINGTON- A bill up for consideration in the U.S. Senate aims to help wounded veterans start families by expanding coverage for in vitro fertilization.

Soldiers with pelvic or spinal cord injuries can have reproductive problems. Currently, the Department of Veterans Affairs covers some procedures to help veterans conceive but it does not cover in vitro fertilization.

The proposed legislation would change that; supporters say the bill addresses an important issue that has not received enough attention.
