I-70 Business Loop Ready For Phase 2 Improvements

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Construction crews will work overnight to reverse traffic flow along the construction zone on the I-70 Business Loop.

Vehicles had been using the frontage roads as crews worked on adding an additional lane in each direction, shutting down the central part of the highway.

On Tuesday night, Phase 2 of the project will begin with crews removing the barricades from the actual highway to the frontage roads.

The project manager for Interstate Highway Construction said, "You won't have the shifts going in or out to get on to the outsides. You'll just run straight through the job in pretty much the same alignment you were running in before we started the construction on the work zone."

This will take place Tuesday night from 7 p.m. until Wednesday at 5 a.m., and will likely take most of the night.

During this time, 25 Road will be closed with no access to I-70 B.

Phase 2 of the project will include reconstructing the frontage roads, adding sidewalks and landscaping.
