Hurricane Sandy Halts Flights and President Obama's Trip to Colorado

by KREX News Room
by Meaghan Wallace

DENVER- The effects of Hurricane Sandy are reaching Colorado. Denver International Airport has canceled dozens of flights, and President Barack Obama has also canceled his trip to Colorado Springs.

DIA officials say the canceled flights are among 1,700 arrivals and departures the airport handles every day.

Hurricane Sandy has grounded thousands of flights across the country, threatening to bring a near halt to air travel for at least two days.

Instead of coming to Colorado Tuesday, the president is returning to Washington to monitor the storm.

An official with President Obama's campaign says that in his place, Bill Clinton is scheduled to campaign in Colorado.

Meanwhile, all campaign trips for Mitt Romney and his running mate have been canceled.

Paul Ryan's trip to Greeley Tuesday has been put off until further notice.

Having Obama's trip to Colorado canceled is good news. Hopefully he'll stay away and never come to Colorado again, at least not as the president.
