GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Some people may have seen the Harlem Shake videos online that have spawned thousands of re-makes.

On Monday night, hundreds gathered at Brownson Arena to tape Colorado Mesa University's version of the viral video.

All the videos start out relatively normal and then quickly cuts to crowds of people dressed up in costumes and dancing.

The theme of the videos is "Get Weird" and nearly a thousand people filled the arena to do just that.

"Our school is one of the fastest growing in Colorado. We have amazing students, everyone has school spirit here so what better way then to bring everyone together at a school sanctioned event and do it. It's put on by students, we have people from the community, people from the college everyone's participating," said Whitney Rowe, one of the organizers and a sophomore at CMU.

The event was organized by Rowe and several other CMU student athletes. They say a thousand students cam to the filming of the video which took about an hour.

The video is set to be put out on Youtube by CMU TV on Thursday.
