GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- President Obama visits the Western Slope Wednesday, and supporters are already preparing for his arrival.

Sources say the president will speak at Grand Junction High School at 5:30 p.m., with doors opening at 2:30 p.m.

Hundreds of people lined up early Monday morning in front of the president's local field office in Grand Junction so they could receive a ticket to the event.

Those at the office won't disclose the number of tickets they are giving out, but some folks were waiting in line as long as five hours for a chance at getting one.

“It’s just exciting to have him here,” said Michael Lentz, a Grand Junction resident. “Just the buzz and just the importance of Colorado in this election cannot be overstated. For him to be here this early is a wonderful thing for Grand Junction.”

The event is free to the public, but anyone who attends must have a ticket. Two other offices in Glenwood Springs and Montrose have also been giving out tickets.
