DELTA, Colo.- A house fire in Delta left a family without a home Saturday evening.

Delta fire authorities say it happened around 2:20 a.m. in the 900 block of Vine Street.

Fire crews were able to douse the flames that spread from the back bedroom into the attic, but not before the home suffered significant structural and smoke damage. Authorities say they believe the home is a total loss.

One man was in the home at the time of the fire, but he was able to escape without injuries; no firefighters were injured in the incident.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Red Cross is assisting the family with housing, food, clothing and other necessities.
