MESA COUNTY, Colo.-The Horizon Drive shooting suspect who turned himself in to Denver police last week is now back on the Western Slope.

According to jail records, 26-year-old Joseph Martin Lara has been booked into the Mesa County Jail.

Officials did not have word on when his first court hearing will be.

Police allege Lara was in the same second floor hotel room as the victim during the shooting at Affordable Inns earlier this month.

Lara could face attempted first-degree murder charges.

We have a choice this year to vote for mature, humane leaders or for reactionary, extreme, and hot-headed leaders. Let's hope few fall for the clever, shallow and black-and-white fallacies of the right. Not that this guy should go free, but to suggest Obama would pardon him is a cheap shot and ignorant. What happened to treating people humanely and respecting their humanity, no matter who they are? And isn't this the basic Christianity the right is so quick to throw up?

Is he here illegally? If he is, the state should send Mexico the bill for his arrest, trial, and incarceration. But then again, maybe Obama will pardon him.
