GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Every year for the past 13 years, the Grand Junction Lions Club honors one person who goes above and beyond the call of duty for their community.

This year, they chose Carma Brown for her role in establishing the Challenger division of Little League Baseball to Grand Junction.

The league is geared towards special needs children between the ages of 8-14 who want to play baseball.

Brown helped establish the league in 1998, a mere 9 years after it was established on a National level.

After winning the award Brown said, "I honestly don't see it as hard work and there are so many other people who put so much time and energy into it. I am grateful I got the recognition for it and I am so humbled by that. My heart is so full."

The lions club also gave Brown a check for $1,000 to give to a charity of her choice, and Brown said she would donate the funds to Challenger.
