Holiday Shopping Blamed for Late Credit Card Payments

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- Officials with Low Cards say credit card delinquencies have risen through the fourth quarter of 2012 from .78 percent in 2011 to .85 percent in 2012. This is about a 9 percent increase.

Delinquency rate represents the percentage of credit card customers that are at least 90 days.

Despite the increase in delinquency, the average credit card debt per borrower fell to $5,122, down 1.6 percent from 2012.
