Holiday Mail for Heroes

by KREX News Room

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Red Cross volunteers collected dozens of signatures of gratitude for our veterans statewide.

The messages were written on a large banner that will be given to Colorado-based military installations.

The event was put on by the American Red Cross through a partnership with the Veterans Affairs Hospital.

"It's just very heartwarming to see so many people just willing to take a few minutes out of their time to write simple messages of support that mean so much to our veterans and our service members, to know that the public is still thinking of them during the holiday season," said Tim Bothe of the American Red Cross.

Folks could also sign holiday cards that will be sent to veterans abroad and those stationed domestically.
