Gov. Hickenlooper Appoints Local Director to Council

by KREX News Room
by John Dias

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Gov. Hickenlooper recently appointed the director of
the Business Incubator Center to his Small Business Council, and on Wednesday he heads
off to his first council meeting in Durango.

John Maraschin's appointment will last four years, and he is currently the only member of the council from the Western Slope.

The Small Business Council gives the governor advice on small business issues, and Maraschin hopes that by having a say on the board, he will keep the Western Slope part of the conversation and relevant.

“It's really important to Western Colorado to have a voice in small business and the issues affecting small businesses,” said Maraschin. “What we see over here could be dramatically different than what the Eastern Slope or other counties see.”

Maraschin will be in Durango for his first forum
until Friday.

He says he's eager to not only bring advice from the Western Slope to the meeting, but to also take back suggestions and share them with all Grand Valley businesses.
