Health Rankings Highlights Achievements and Areas Needing Improvement in Mesa County

MESA COUNTY, Colo.- A new report shows how Mesa County's health stacks up compared to the rest of Colorado.

The annual report from The University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and The Robert Wood Foundation shows Mesa County ranking 33rd in health outcomes and 33rd in health factors out of 59 counties ranked in Colorado.

The County Health Rankings shows Mesa County with a strong area in clinical care, ranking it 8 out of 59.

In health behaviors, Mesa County had a low ranking, placing it 46 out of 59. Officials say this low placement is based on teen birth rates and rates of sexually transmitted infections.

When looking at the number of suicides and motor vehicle deaths, Mesa County's mortality ranked 36 out of 59.
