Gun Buyer Background Checks Now Taking Over 9 Days

DENVER - The wait time for a firearms background check in Colorado is now more than nine days.

The check once took less than an hour on average but soared along with requests for background checks after the shootings at an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut, in December.

According to the Denver Post, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation says were 11, 420 background checks waiting to be processed as of Wednesday morning.

CBI officials say the Colorado Department of Public Safety plans to ask lawmakers for $500,000 for more staff and technology to handle the checks.

In an age where a bureaucrat can pop a few computer keys and find out everything about you in less than 10 minutes, this is unbelievable. All they have to verify is criminal history or convictions. The gov could put an end to this charade in a minute if he chose to, but instead they're manufacturing an unauthorized waiting period. I'm sick of these people ignoring the laws they dislike and making up others by fiat. I'll be making another contribution to NRA today.

This is all by design. The liberals are 100% to blame. They are systematically re writing the constitution to say what they want it to say.

Chickenscooper wants a group of government hacks to administer health care when they cannot handle even the most mundane tasks such as background checks, vehicle licensing, budgeting, etc. Frankly they are not up to the task even though similar tasks are completed efficiently and effortlessly in the private sector.
