GREELEY, Colo. - Greeley police are searching for the owner of a former funeral service suspected of skipping town after defrauding customers and the state out of thousands of dollars.

Police say Paul Acuna faces more than a dozen theft and fraud charges following allegations he stole funds for senior citizen pre-paid funeral arrangements.

Police say he also is accused of overcharging low-income families and falsifying documents to receive funds from the Weld County Department of Human Services.

Acuna has reached out to our sister station, KCNC, on Facebook saying that he has an explanation. He blames bad accounting for the problems. No word yet on if he plans to turn himself in.
