Grand Valley Transit Going High Tech For Riders

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Grand Valley Transit has recently added technology to tell riders how long they will have to wait for the arrival of their bus.

The software program, known as TimePoint, utilizes the GPS units aboard the GVT buses to determine their location, then tells waiting riders how long they will have to wait until the bus arrives.

There are multiple ways to access the data. The first is from a computer. Waiting riders can go to http://gvt.timepointsoftware.com to get the information.

You can also use a cell phone.

"Each bus stop has a sign with a texting number and a stop ID, so, you text the stop ID to the designated telephone number and it will provide you with estimated arrival times for every route that services that bus stop," said Jason Moyer, general manager for Grand Valley Transit.

Riders can also use the Red Label app on their smartphones to scan a bar code located on each stop ID sign to gain access to their wait time.
