Grand Valley Helps Victims Who Lost Everything in Explosion

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Tuesday afternoon's local disaster is causing the Grand Valley to help those who lost everything.

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Grand Junction's Primerica are asking the public for help in restoring some normalcy for the victims.

Since Tuesday afternoon, items have filled the front office of Primerica and both groups hope more donations come in.

The groups are collecting cash, clothes, school supplies and any items people are willing to give.

"They don't have their school books anymore, they don't have their laptops, they don't have their homework, notes, they have don't anything and they're kind of out there. They all found different places to stay but they're definitely felling a little scared and on their own right now. I think it's really important for our community to come together, especially when people are feeling alone and scared and don't know what to do, to come and comfort them and let them know everything is going to be OK," explained Tim Smith the Mesa County Representative for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

The fire relief drop off for the two homes destroyed in the 7th Street and Orchard Avenue explosion is at Primerica, on 1st Street and North Avenue.

Primerica is also holding a hamburger and hot dog cook off Saturday, March 23.

All the donations received will go towards the fire victims.
