Grand Mesa Jeep Club Raises Money for Breast Cancer

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The Grand Mesa Jeep Club held an event at the Avalon Theater Saturday night, raising money for breast cancer research.

The documentary 2012 The King of the Hammers: Rise of the East, was featured. It includes desert style Baja racing and extreme rock climbing.

Money raised will go towards Crawling to a Cure, a charity tied to the Susan B. Komen foundation.

Cottin Rodd and Dale Znamenacek, two women who've competed in this race, talked to audiences before the show.

"It's a big race we do once a year, it's about 165 miles, it is the hardest race documented. It's extremely physically, mentally, it's all super challenging. We prep for it year round, all year round," said Rodd, who's also owner of Jimmy's 4X4 alongside her husband Randy.

The movie was sponsored by Jimmy's 4X4, they are out of Cortez, Colorado.

Officials say 100 percent of the funds from all pre-sale tickets will go towards Crawling to a Cure, while all ticket sales the day of the show will go directly to Two Rivers/City of Grand Junction.
