GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Members of the Grand Junction Rotary Club gathered at the Two Rivers Convention Center to hand out donations to four local outreach programs.

Homeward Bound, The House, Catholica Outreach, and Rotaract were the programs honored Wednesday.

The club collected nearly $30,000 for these programs through a silent auction at their annual Masquerade event.

To no one's surprise, representatives from the selected programs were extremely grateful for the generous donation.

"This means teens aren't at risk for physical and sexual abuse," said Karis (Owners of the House) executive director, John Mok-Lamme. "They're not sleeping in dumpsters. It means they're getting case management and job opportunities with some of our job partners."

Another outreach program is choosing to offer assistance outside of the Western Slope.

"Every year when we do the silent auction and we get the check, we take most of that money and we give it to an international project," said Rotaract President, Rebecca Wallace. "Our project this year is the Haiti Water Project."

Wallace says the donations Rotaract makes are matched by the Grand Junction, district, and national Rotary Clubs.

The House and Homeward Bound received the largest donations at $11,000 a piece, while Catholic Outreach received $6,000 and Rotaract received just under $1,700.
