Grand Junction Passes Amendment 64 Resolution

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The city of Grand Junction has made their stance clear on how they'll be handling Amendment 64.

Wednesday night, a resolution was passed that would stop any marijuana facilities from being set up within the city.

"We already stated how our opinion is, our resolution is, if you will, and the state hasn't given us any different direction so we're really just hanging tight until we hear from the state," said Mayor Bill Pitts.

The resolution also asks the City Manager and City Attorney to monitor any legislature or administrative actions that would cause the council to change their decision.

Take a deep breath, everyone, and take it slow and easy. Let the state get their act together first and set up regulations for cities to follow. Let's do it right the first time and not rush into this.

It's sad that the "Reefer Madness" mentality still exists today. Oh well at least the children are taught that alcohol and tobacco are a much safer alternative than a harmless plant. Way to go America!!

The people of Colorado have spoken. They want marijuana legal. Yet the City of Grand Junction wants to take that right away. Figures. When are we going to catch up with the rest of Colorado?!

Its a business, like any other business and it is first and foremost in this cities charter to run off as much business as possible via taxation, regulation, and zoning.

Of course liquor stores and tobacco stores are just fine.
