GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Continuing to live up to their "We Serve" creed, the grand Junction Lion's Club passed out some hefty grants on Tuesday.
This year's Lion's Club Carnival raised a total of $125,000 that will be granted out to nine local non-profits.
On Tuesday, the club proudly began to present checks to some of these organizations.
One grant recipient is Loma Elementary, who is putting these funds to a new playground.
“It just shows the support in Grand Junction, Loma, and Fruita,” said Debi Genova, secretary at Loma Elementary. “The support that the valley has towards schools and local foundations and the effort that we put forward trying to raise money for the playground equipment. It’s exciting.”
Here is a list of the grant recipients:
Loma Elementary: $11,000
Mesa View Elementary: $3,600
Grand Junction High School Baseball: $7,000
Mesa County Jr. Football League: $7,500
The remaining five organizations will be recognized later this summer.
