White Hall to be Demolished Due to Asbestos Problems

by KREX News Room

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- In May, the city of Grand Junction accepted ownership of the White Hall property that was destroyed in a fire last September. Now they are looking to demolish the fire damaged portion due to asbestos problems.

Inspections revealed that there are varying amounts of asbestos throughout the structure and those parts must be removed or abated prior to any demolition or repairs.

The City Council made the decision to move forward with contracting Hudspeth and Associates, Inc. out of Englewood to take charge of the asbestos abatement and demolition project at a cost of $313,650.

The White Hall project is scheduled to begin Sept. 4 and the planned completion date is Oct. 31.
