Grand Junction Bike Thief Taken Into Custody

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- The person responsible for attempting to steal an estimated $10,000 in bicycles from Grand Junction businesses has been taken into custody.
A male juvenile got away with stealing several bikes by telling bike shop clerks that he was testing out the bikes.
Bike shops typically allow this, but keep the shopper's Driver's License in exchange.
However, this thief provided these businesses with another person's ID, and then took off with the bicycle without returning.
The owner of Bicycle Outfitters shared this information with other shops across the Grand Valley, and on August 28th the owner of Ruby Canyon Bicycles caught the juvenile in the act.
The Bike Shop, Bicycle Outfitters, and Ruby Canyon Bicycles all fell victim to the crimes.
The juvenile was booked for theft of more than $2,000, criminal impersonation, and identity theft.
