GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.- A project to help revitalize downtown Glenwood Springs has made significant progress.

Since the Grand Avenue Bridge has been identified as a "poor bridge,” officials say the roughly $60 million project is a great opportunity for the city.

The plan has already gotten environmental clearance, and organizers say they're in the process of finalizing the design.

“We've picked an alignment,” said Joe Elsen, CDOT program engineer. “Which is curving the bridge alignment off of the position it’s in right now. We are also looking input on is bridge types.”

CDOT had about 14 designs at their last public open house.

They plan to hire a contractor soon for the bridge project, and say construction should start by 2015.
