Governor Stops in GJ, Touts Healthcare System

by Lindsey Eaton

Colorado Governor Ritter makes a stop in Grand Junction in his final month to honor Grand Junction's healthcare system. Governor Ritter declared Thursday as Colorado Beacon Consortium Day. He made the announcement just after 4:30 Thursday afternoon at Rocky Mountain Health Plans.

Ritter says Grand Junction's healthcare system has been a model that has gotten national attention providing quality care for the least amount of money. Only 17 community partnerships nationwide have received this prestigious Beacon Community Award.

"It's a real honor that Beacon Consortium was recognized by the federal government, and I thought it was important for us to acknowledge that by proclaiming it Colorado Beacon Consortium Day," said Ritter.

Friday morning at 9:00 Governor Ritter will be talking with Mesa State College's President Tim Foster and students as part of the governor's final push to urge to students to complete college.
