Gold Medalist Missy Franklin Receives Hometown Honor

AURORA, Colo.- Olympic swimmer Missy Franklin just won five Olympic medals, but the honors she just received may mean even more to her. They came from schoolmates and her family.

On Monday Franklin met and greeted her fellow students during a pep rally at Regis Jesuit High School in Aurora.

The theme of the day was swimming. Earlier in the day, 1,600 students got up and did a mock freestyle in honor of Franklin's accomplishments.

At the pep rally, Franklin got up to the podium to say a few words. She said, "I honestly can't tell you I would be here today without you guys."

Her parents stood at the doors of the gymnasium, giving students a look at their daughter's many medals.

The 17-year-old swimmer hasn't decided whether to turn those medals into endorsement money or head to college next year.
