DENVER- The 7-year-old Colorado girl infected with bubonic plague has been released from a Denver-area hospital.

Sierra Jane Downing of Pagosa Springs was rushed to an emergency room last month after experiencing a seizure and a 107 degree fever.

She was eventually flown to Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children in Denver, where doctors diagnosed her with bubonic plague.

It is believed she may have been infected by insects near a dead squirrel she encountered during a camping trip with her family.

She started to recover after being treated with antibiotics.
