Gene Taylor's Sporting Goods Relocates to Fruita
FRUITA, Colo.- After being closed for several months, Gene Taylor's Sporting Goods Store is now open once again, but at a new location. Gene Taylor's spent over 50 years in Grand Junction selling sports and outdoor apparel. Shortly after store owner Gene Taylor passed away last year, the Grand Junction store was closed. Now, Gene's sons, Tony and Duke, are running a new outlet store in Fruita to keep the family business alive. "He was such an iconic figure in the Valley for so long," said Tony Taylor, co-owner of Gene Taylor's. "I think he'd be tremendously excited about what we're doing and how we're going forward with the business." Taylor says the new store will be a true outlet store, providing goods upwards of 70 percent off. While the new location will not be selling guns, they will continue to provide ski rentals and apparel.
