Gateway Makes Another Step Toward Off-Road Training Course

by KREX News Room
by Amanda Brandeis

GATEWAY, Colo.- Mesa County Commissioners have granted a conditional use permit for an off-road training course in Gateway.

The land is zoned for agriculture and timber, so a conditional use permit was needed for recreational use.

The track will be located at 6033 4.2 Road.

Officials with the project say there isn't anything like this in the world and that it is a unique concept.

An attorney involved with the project, John Williams, said, "The thought is that you start at Gateway Canyon Resort in the morning and then you get about a 45 minute tutorial, instruction. Then you shuttle out to this course and you get to drive these vehicles."

Williams said the vehicles that will be used are state of the art and built for the track.

Planners hope to have the course open by Aug. 1.

Hopefully the noise associated with this will not affect the nice relaxing character of the area !

Wouldn't the land be better used for Agriculture, water catchment or a Tree Farm etc?
