Gas and Oil Conservation Commission Discusses Drilling Distances

by KREX News Room
by Courtney Griffin

DENVER- A hearing took place on the Front Range to discuss rules for the sampling and monitoring of groundwater near new oil and gas wells.

People packed into a meeting of the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission in Denver Wednesday.

The groundwater tests could help show whether water has or hasn't been contaminated by drilling.

The commission will later consider testimony on how close wells can be to buildings, including schools and homes.

Decisions are not expected until sometime next month.
