GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- The gas explosion which caused three homes to catch on fire and destroyed two homes completely on 7th Street and Orchard Avenue is ongoing.

Officials say crews will probably be working throughout the night to get gas out of the manhole on 7th Street and Orchard Avenue.

Evacuation areas are from Elm on both sides of 7th Street up to Walnut Avenue. Orchard and Walnut Avenue from 6th to 8th Street are also blocked off. South of Elm Avenue is open.

Authorities say Colorado Mesa University is still without gas.

If evacuated, residents can stay at Grand Junction High School, or the Salvation Army. Red Cross is also available.
