Garfield County Sees Alarming Rise in Phone Scams

GARFIELD COUNTY, Colo.- An alarming number of phone scam cases are being reported in Garfield County.

Garfield County Sheriff's Office says someone is calling residents, posing as an official, from an attorney's office in Texas.

The caller tells the victims that they are the focus of an investigation, and could face jail time if they don't disclose personal information.

Officials say these scammers are using the victim's personal information to steal money.

Garfield County Sheriff's officials are reminding residents to never give out your personal information.

I've noticed a rise in the complaints posted at Callercenter.com too. I wonder how these scammers are able to call people and harass them with fraudulent calls and then get away with it.
