GARFIELD COUNTY, Colo.- Garfield County Search and Rescue crews are looking for the remains of a 12-year-old boy, believed to have gone missing Sunday night.

Officials responded to a call of a missing person in the Colorado River shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday.

The boy, identified as 12-year-old Richard Irving Buchanon, went missing along the South Canyon boat dock between Glenwood Springs and New Castle.

Crews combed the Colorado River until 7 p.m. Sunday night with no success.

The mission resumed Monday evening and lasted until 8 p.m. There were 16 people involved, as well as three search dogs.

Garfield Search and Rescue crews were back at it Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. and have now changed the mission from a search and rescue to a search and recovery.
