Garfield County Releases Proposed 2014 Budget
KREX News Room
GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.- Garfield County releases its proposed budget for the 2014 year, and despite a drop in revenue officials are remaining optimistic.
The new budget reflects a 26 percent decrease in property tax revenue, stemming from lower assessed evaluations in Garfield County
Officials say an 18 percent increase of sales tax collections, and other tax revenue will soften the blow, resulting in an expected $11 million drop in revenues for 2014.
Despite the drop, Garfield County officials remain optimistic saying the property tax revenue is forecasted to rebound in 2015.
The proposed budget decreases operating expenditures, maintains current staffing levels, provides for a reduction in personnel costs, and allows a three percent performance-based pay increase.
