Garfield County Commissioners Rescind Oil Shale Resolution

by KREX News Room
by Kristina Kuestner

GARFIELD COUNTY, Colo.- During Tuesday's meeting, the Garfield County Commissioners decided to rescind an oil shale resolution made during several secret closed door meetings that were held with elected officials from Colorado, Utah and Wyoming.

The Grand Valley Citizens Alliance recently announced they were suing Garfield County Commissioners over the closed door meeting they participated in.

The group says they violated Colorado's Sunshine Law, which requires disclosure of private interests by public officials.

The resolution opposed the Bureau of Land Management's potential land reductions on oil shale development.

What about Ken Salazar's secret meeting regarding the oil industry that took place earlier in the year? I think GVAC should take a good look at that meeting if they are truly watch dogs protecting our state and not politically plundering pirates trying to undermine good decision process. Especially since the Democratic Elected Clerk and Recorder failed in her capacity to supply the address of the meeting, a very simple task. Or the clerk being late to the meeting? How about getting the truth out to the public or is KREX lazy in their research efforts and relying on lobbists to do it for them?

Those corrupt commissioners are just trying to save their dishonest butts, now that they're being sued. Ha Ha!!!
